Description

The Scuola dell'Arte della Medaglia is a school of art, technique and high craftsmanship, founded in 1907 within the "coin factory", i.e. the Italian Mint, to specialize young people in the arts of engraving and modelling.

The School of the Art of Medal, unique in its kind in the world, has been operating for 100 years. Teaching and activities have been extended and updated so that other teaching subjects have gradually been added to the original disciplines of bas-relief modelling and direct cut engraving with the aim of preserving and making the metal arts heritage vital and high-level artistic craftsmanship tradition. The teachers are engravers and technicians of the Mint, as well as external specialists in various disciplines.
