With the fall of France in 1940 during World War II, Lebanon came under the control of Vichy France until the British and Free French occupied the country in the Syria-Lebanon campaign in July 1941.
Emergency coinage struck in Lebanon during WWII (1941) when the Paris Mint could no longer supply coins.
For the third issue at the end of 1941 and onwards. Made with this alloy used in aeronautics and recovered from a downed plane.
