Description

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani (born 3 June 1980) serves as the Emir of Qatar, assuming the throne in 2013. The fourth son of Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Tamim became the heir apparent in 2003 after his older brother, Sheikh Jassim, relinquished his claim to the throne. His ascension to emirship occurred in 2013 when his father abdicated in his favor.

Sheikh Tamim has actively sought to elevate Qatar's international standing by hosting major sporting events, exemplified by the successful bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and through strategic acquisitions such as Paris Saint-Germain F.C.
