Description

Zoltán Kodály (1882–1967) was a renowned composer, ethnomusicologist, and educator celebrated for his profound impact on Hungarian music and culture. Influenced by his parents and early education, Kodály developed a lifelong passion for music. He conducted extensive fieldwork, collecting authentic Hungarian folk songs directly from peasant singers, which greatly influenced his compositions. As a professor at the Budapest Academy of Music, Kodály collaborated closely with Béla Bartók, promoting Hungarian folk music worldwide. Despite challenges during World War I and political unrest, Kodály advocated for music education and cultural preservation. His influence extended internationally through conferences and collaborations, enriching his musical legacy.
