Description

The European beaver (Castor Fiber) is one of two surviving beaver species globally, alongside the North American beaver (Castor Canadensis). As Eurasia's largest rodents, they were once widespread across Europe and parts of Asia but faced extinction due to overhunting and habitat loss. Conservation efforts have led to population recovery in some areas. Known for their engineering prowess, they build dams and lodges that benefit ecosystems, while primarily feeding on vegetation.

Engraver: Márta Csikai
