Description

The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, and commonly known as Paris 2024, is an international multi-sport event that is scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in Paris, France. Having previously played host in 1900 and 1924, Paris will become the second city to host the Olympics three times, after London (1908, 1948 and 2012). 2024 will mark the centenary of the Paris Games of 1924 and the sixth Olympic Games hosted by France (three in summer and three in winter).

The 2024 Summer Paralympics, also referred to as the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and commonly known as Paris 2024, are set to be an upcoming international multi-sport parasports event governed by the International Paralympic Committee. Scheduled to take place in Paris, France, from August 28 to September 8, 2024, these games represent a historic occasion as Paris hosts the Paralympics for the first time ever. Additionally, it marks the second time that France will host the Paralympic Games, with Tignes and Albertville jointly hosting the 1992 Winter Paralympics. The decision to award Paris the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games was made on September 13, 2017, during the annual session held in Lima, Peru.

Obverse

Depicts an abstract aerial perspective of a stadium, featuring the logos of the Hungarian Olympic Team and the Hungarian Paralympic Team positioned centrally. The stationary image is dynamically brought to life by lines radiating from the foreground and converging towards the center, symbolizing the presence of fans and, more broadly, the supportive professional and social community behind the athletes. Above, in a semicircular arrangement, the inscription "HUNGARIAN OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC TEAM" is visible, while below, the word "PARIS" signifies the global stage of the competitions.

Reverse

Depicts a contemporary portrayal featuring four sports—hammer throw, canoeing, swimming, and para-table tennis—where the Hungarian teams are poised for the most medal opportunities. The abstract representations of these sports equally depict able-bodied and para-athletes, with equal emphasis on gender representation, reflecting the historic participation of an equal number of female and male athletes in these World Games for the first time. The horizontal lines, thickening towards the shapes, convey the dynamic nature of the sports while symbolizing the undulations of water.

The design includes customary elements of commemorative coins: the inscription "HUNGARY" in a semicircular script above and the year of minting, 2024, below. Nearly concealed within the medal's image, the "BP." mintmark is positioned on the left edge of the horizontal central axis, while the denomination and the inscription "FORINT" are displayed along the right edge. The privy mark of the engraver is visible near the canoe paddle on the far right.
