Description

The Eucharistic World Congress, or International Eucharistic Congress, is a global event of the Roman Catholic Church focused on deepening the understanding and reverence of the Eucharist.

The initiative began with Emilia Tamisier from southern France, who organized pilgrimages in honor of the Eucharist starting in June 1874. The first National Eucharistic Congress was held in Faverney in September 1875. Each congress, hosted in different locations, has a specific theme and includes lectures, communal prayers, and Eucharistic adoration. Initially annual or biennial, they have been held every four years since World War II. Hungary hosted the event twice: in 1938 and 2021, with Pope Francis attending the latter.
