Description

The Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an independent public interest institution with its own legal status, possessing financial and economic autonomy. Established on October 22, 1967, by an Amiri decree from the late Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, it was the second chamber of commerce founded in the United Arab Emirates. Since its inception, the Chamber has represented the private sector in Ras Al Khaimah, encompassing a variety of commercial, production, and service activities. Membership in the Chamber is mandatory for all individuals and entities engaging in commercial, industrial, or professional activities within the Emirate. This requirement applies to both local and international businesses, whether their main office is in Ras Al Khaimah or they have branches or agencies there. Businesses must obtain Chamber membership before commencing their activities.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (1948–2022), the UAE's second president and ruler of Abu Dhabi from November 2004 to May 2022, was the eldest son of the UAE's first president, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He took on a significant role in the late 1990s due to his father's health issues and officially became Abu Dhabi's leader in 2004. His tenure saw cultural and academic growth, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Etihad Airways. Under his leadership, the UAE became a major economic power. Known for his pro-Western stance, he strengthened ties with the US and Israel.

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi (born in 1956) is the current ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates of the UAE. He served as the chief of the ruler’s Emiri court in 1979, head of the Municipal Council in 1986, and was appointed Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler in June 2003. He officially became ruler in 2010 following his father's passing.

The traditional men's headwear in some Middle Eastern areas consists of three components: a knitted skull-cap known as the "keffiyeh," (also referred to as a ghutrah, shemagh, or ḥaṭṭah) a large cotton headscarf, typically plain white or with a red-and-white checkered pattern, called the "ghutra," and a black cord named the "agal," which secures the ghutra in place.
