The Bank of Namibia (BoN) is the central bank of Namibia, responsible for regulating the country’s monetary policy, financial stability, and currency issuance. Established in 1990, following Namibia’s independence from South Africa, the bank plays a crucial role in maintaining economic stability and controlling inflation. It issues the Namibian dollar (NAD), which is pegged to the South African rand (ZAR). The BoN also oversees commercial banks, promotes financial inclusion, and works to combat money laundering and financial crimes. Headquartered in Windhoek, the bank supports economic growth and development through its policies while ensuring a stable and efficient banking system in the country.
