Description

Jeronim de Rada (1814–1903) was a prominent Albanian poet, writer, and folklorist of the 19th century, best known for his role in the Albanian National Awakening (Rilindja Kombëtare). Born in Macchia Albanese (Arbëreshë community) in southern Italy, he devoted his life to preserving and promoting Albanian language, culture, and national identity among the Arbëreshë diaspora. His most famous literary work, "Milosaos", an epic romantic poem written in Albanian, is celebrated for its poetic beauty and patriotic themes. De Rada also founded and edited the first Albanian-language newspaper, "Fiamuri Arbërit", in 1883, which played a crucial role in raising national consciousness. His efforts made him a key figure in Albanian literature and cultural revival.
