The Finland 50 Euro “Finnish Veterans” 2025 coin, issued by the Helsinki Mint on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, honors the men and women who defended Finland’s freedom during the wars of 1939–1945. Struck in both gold and silver and released in very limited mintage, the coin pays tribute not only to the veterans but also to their families, who bore great sacrifices. The design serves as a solemn reminder of the hardships of war and the enduring value of peace, a sentiment deeply cherished by the Finnish veterans themselves.
The year 2025 marks a significant moment: the youngest veterans turn 100 years old, while 85 years have passed since the end of the Winter War and 80 years since Finland regained its freedom at the end of World War II. This collector’s coin stands as a lasting symbol of gratitude, ensuring the memory and legacy of the Finnish veterans — and their commitment to peace — will be honored for generations to come.

Depicts three profiles created through the use of negative space. On the left, the profile of a war veteran represents the fading generation of those who fought between 1939 and 1945, now living on through memories. On the right, the profile of a soldier symbolizes the hope that no new war veterans will be needed. At the far right, a young person’s profile embodies the future of the country — one that, hopefully, will never again face the hardships of war. • SUOMEN VETERAANIT • |
