Obverse

Depicts a white-tailed eagle on its nest. Country name in Finnish and Swedish above. Engraver's initial (e) below.

The emblematic bird of the Åland islands, the white-tailed eagle, is an impressive sight in flight, as the bird's wingspan can reach up to two metres. The regal white-tailed eagle is protected in Finland and is one of the symbols of successful conservation.

Reverse

Depicts the historic coat of arms of Åland, a region of Finland surrounded by the value and the date above. Engraver's initial (T) and the mint's logo (lion) on the right.

Åland is an autonomous and demilitarised region of Finland since 1920 by a decision of the League of Nations. It is the smallest region of Finland by area and population. Its only official language is Swedish and Mariehamn is the capital city.

The coat of arms of Åland features a golden red deer on a blue field. This is traditionally surmounted by a comital coronet of the elder Swedish style.
