Reverse

Depicts a mountain tapir moving right. A geometric design of vertical lines, the national Mint’s mark (LMA), the scientific name of the mountain tapir, Tapirus pinchaque, the denomination numerals, the name of the monetary unit and a symbol of the series - Concentric circles with a hummingbird are also featured.

The mountain tapir or woolly tapir is the second-smallest of the five species of tapir. It is most easily distinguished from other tapirs by its thick woolly coat and white lips. The species name comes from the term "La Pinchaque", an imaginary beast said to inhabit the same regions as the mountain tapir.

Mountain tapirs are black or very dark brown, with occasional pale hairs flecked in amongst the darker fur. Adults are usually around 1.8 m (5.9 ft) in length and 0.75 to 1 m (2.5 to 3.3 ft) in height at the shoulder. Like the other types of tapir, they have small, stubby tails and long, flexible proboscises.
