The Moscow Kremlin is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow. It is the best known of the kremlins (Russian citadels) and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers. The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation. The name Kremlin means "fortress inside a city", and is often also used as a metonym to refer to the government of the Russian Federation. The existing Kremlin walls and towers were built by Italian masters over the years 1485 to 1495.

Lenin's Mausoleum situated in Red Square in the centre of Moscow, is a mausoleum that currently serves as the resting place of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin. His preserved body has been on public display there since shortly after his death in 1924.

The Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed, commonly known as Saint Basil's Cathedral, is a church in the Red Square in Moscow, Russia. The building, now a museum, is officially known as the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat or Pokrovsky Cathedral. It was built from 1555–61 on orders from Ivan the Terrible and commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan. It was the city's tallest building until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600.

Moscow is one of the 11 host cities of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. The venues are Luzhniki Stadium with its capacity of 81,000 spectators and Otkrytiye Arena with its capacity of 45,360 spectators.
