Description

The 1912 Summer Olympic Games took place in Stockholm. They were the first games at which athletes from all five continents competed, and the last games at which medals made of pure gold were awarded.

Rudolf Cvetko (1880–1977) was a Slovene fencer who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He was the first Slovene to qualify for the Olympics and the first Slovene winner of the Olympic medal. He was part of the Austrian Empire's sabre team, which won the silver medal.

The Republic of Slovenia is issuing collector coins to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Olympic medal won by a Slovene, as a member of the Austrian team.
