Description

There are two varieties of the coin (both dated 2009). The first one (struck in 2009) is with the edge not containing any inscriptions and it was actually struck in 2009. The other variety (struck in 2014) has the edge inscriptions ОН СОМ and 10 СОМ.

Obverse

Depicts the emblem of Kyrgyzstan wit date below.

The emblem consists of a sun (with the forty rays that extend from it refer to the legendary forty clans of Manas) rising above the Tian Shan mountainous scene resting on the shoulders of a hawk. Cotton and wheat circle the border of the emblem, with the name of the country scripted above and below. The mountains, illuminated by the sun, resemble Kyrgyz national hat “kalpak”.

Reverse

Value below stylized leather bottle, the "kookor" with symbol of a "tumar" represented by a triangle.

Kookor is a traditional Kyrgyz container made of leather for kumis (a fermented dairy product traditionally made from mare's milk). Tumar is widely used in various Kyrgyz crafts.
