Obverse

Depicts a peacock floor mosaic from Stobi, surrounded by the country name "Republic of Makedonia", date below.

Stobi or Stoboi (Ancient Greek: Στόβοι; Latin: Stobi; Macedonian: Стоби), was an ancient town of Paeonia, later conquered by Macedon, and finally turned into the capital of the Roman province of Macedonia Salutaris. It is located near Gradsko, North Macedonia.

A peacock from the baptistery's mosaic floor (from the Episcopal Basilica, dating from the 5th and 6th centuries) is depicted on the reverse of the Macedonian 10 denars banknote, issued in 1996 and of the 10 denars coin, issued in 2008.
