Description

Doctor Who, a British science fiction TV show broadcast by the BBC since 1963, follows the adventures of the Doctor, an extraterrestrial Time Lord who resembles a human. Traveling in the TARDIS, a time-traveling spacecraft, the Doctor explores the universe. The TARDIS, disguised as a blue British police box, harkens back to 1963 UK.

Thirteen actors, starting with William Hartnell, have portrayed the Doctor, with Jodie Whittaker becoming the first female lead in 2017. The transition between actors is woven into the plot through regeneration, where the Doctor gains a new body due to injuries. Each actor brings a distinct portrayal but represents one character's evolution.

With its time-traveling premise, different incarnations of the Doctor occasionally cross paths. The show is iconic in British and global pop culture, with a devoted fan base known as Whovians. Holding records for longevity and success, Doctor Who has left a lasting impact on television and inspired spin-offs, comics, novels, and more. Originally running from 1963 to 1989, the show was revived in 2005, produced by BBC Wales, and led to various spin-offs and cultural references.

Fourth crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara.

The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara was a wedding present in 1947 from her grandmother, Queen Mary, who received it as a gift from the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland in 1893 on the occasion of her marriage to the Duke of York, later George V. Made by E. Wolfe & Co., it was purchased from Garrard & Co. by a committee organised by Lady Eve Greville. In 1914, Mary adapted the tiara to take 13 diamonds in place of the large oriental pearls surmounting the tiara. At first, Elizabeth wore the tiara without its base and pearls but the base was reattached in 1969. The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara is one of Elizabeth's most recognisable pieces of jewellery due to its widespread use on British banknotes and coinage.

Reverse

Depicts the image of the Dalek that hasn’t changed much since its original design by Raymond Cusick. The reverse is the metal shell of a Dalek body shining brightly against a burgundy galaxy giving the Dalek a sense of floating through space and time.

Surrounding the Dalek and coloured background is a fine border with "DOCTOR WHO" inscribed below. "EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE" is found inscribed to the left along with, "1/2 OZ 999 FINE SILVER."

The Daleks are a fictional, highly xenophobic extraterrestrial race featured in the British sci-fi series Doctor Who. Created by Terry Nation, they were first introduced in the show's 1963 serial "The Daleks," enclosed in casings by Raymond Cusick.

Inspired by the Nazis, the Daleks are depicted as ruthless, emotionless cyborg aliens driven solely by hatred. They demand absolute obedience, seek universal dominance, and aim to exterminate all life, even their own kind if different. These aliens are the primary adversaries of the Doctor, the series' main character. They even developed time travel during the original show's second year.
