Depicts a wildcat within a square frame, surrounded by the inscription IF YOU VALUE LIFE... above and below, on the left the animal's Hungarian name, on the left the Latin taxonomic name, the engraver's initials (FZ) below.

The wildcat (Felis silvestris) is a petite feline species indigenous to Europe, Africa, and Asia. Serving as the precursor to the domestic cat (Felis catus), it shares numerous physical and behavioral characteristics with its domesticated counterpart. While resembling domestic cats, wildcats are generally larger with elongated legs. They possess a coat ranging from tawny to grayish, adorned with distinct stripes or spots, aiding in their camouflage within their natural environment. Solitary by nature, wildcats are primarily active during the night, preying on small mammals, birds, and insects. Conservation initiatives are underway to safeguard wildcat populations, given the threats they encounter, such as habitat loss, fragmentation, and interbreeding with domestic cats.
