Fatima Jinnah (1893–1967) was a Pakistani politician, stateswoman, author, and activist. She was the younger sister of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder and first Governor-General of Pakistan. Serving as the Leader of the Opposition from 1960 until her death in 1967, she was Pakistan's first female dentist, graduating from the University of Calcutta in 1923.
A close associate and adviser to her brother, Fatima co-founded the Pakistan Women's Association, aiding women migrants post-independence. She wrote the book "My Brother" in 1955, but it was censored and only published in 1987. In 1965, she contested the presidential election against Ayub Khan, winning the popular vote but losing the electoral college.
Fatima Jinnah passed away in Karachi on 9 July 1967. Her death remains controversial, with allegations of unnatural causes. Known as "Madar-e-Millat" (Mother of the Nation) and "Khatun-e-Pakistan" (Lady of Pakistan), she is honored with numerous institutions and public spaces named after her.
