ADMA-OPCO is a pioneering oil and gas exploration and production company with roots tracing back to the 1950s. Officially incorporated on July 3, 1977, it focuses on offshore operations in Abu Dhabi. The company's oil production primarily comes from the Umm Shaif and Zakum fields, with crude oil transferred to Das Island for processing, storage, and export. The first crude shipment from Umm Shaif was exported from Das Island in 1962, marking a significant milestone.
ADMA-OPCO is committed to sustainable development, operational excellence, and overcoming industry challenges. The company's structure enhances efficiency, health, safety, and environmental standards. Innovative technologies are employed to optimize resource utilization while prioritizing environmental conservation. ADMA-OPCO continues to expand its facilities, develop new fields, and improve production methods, maintaining a strong focus on human resources and social responsibility. ADNOC holds a 60% share in the company, with BP, Total, and JODCO sharing the remaining 40%. In 2012, the 50th anniversary of the first crude oil shipment from Abu Dhabi was celebrated, highlighting a pivotal moment in the UAE's history.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (1948–2022), the UAE's second president and ruler of Abu Dhabi from November 2004 to May 2022, was the eldest son of the UAE's first president, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He took on a significant role in the late 1990s due to his father's health issues and officially became Abu Dhabi's leader in 2004. His tenure saw cultural and academic growth, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Etihad Airways. Under his leadership, the UAE became a major economic power. Known for his pro-Western stance, he strengthened ties with the US and Israel.
