The Amerigo Vespucci, the iconic sailing training ship of the Italian Navy, embarked on a historic world tour from Genoa on July 1, 2023. Over 20 months, the vessel is navigating more than 40,000 nautical miles, visiting over 30 ports across 28 countries and five continents. This ambitious journey celebrates Italian heritage and excellence, showcasing the nation's culture, cuisine, and industry through the "Villaggio Italia" initiative in select ports. As a floating ambassador of Italy, the Amerigo Vespucci aims to foster international goodwill and cultural exchange while promoting maritime traditions.
Notable destinations include major global ports like Los Angeles, Tokyo, Mumbai, Singapore, and Darwin. In December 2024, the ship made its inaugural visit to Doha, Qatar, underscoring its role in strengthening international relations. The voyage is set to conclude in March 2025, leaving behind a legacy of global connection and shared appreciation for Italy's rich maritime and cultural history. Often referred to as "the most beautiful ship in the world," the Amerigo Vespucci continues to inspire awe and admiration wherever it docks.
