Depicts Satakunta's emblematic animal, the beaver, known for its dam-construction skills. Country name in Finnish and Swedish above. Engraver's initial (e) below.

The European beaver is an ancient species that has inhabited Finland since before the last ice age. The species was nearly hunted to extinction in Finland, but the population has since been bolstered by imported individuals. The Finnish European beaver population is still limited to approximately 1,000 individuals, mostly concentrated in the region of Satakunta.

Reverse

Depicts the historic coat of arms of Satakunta, a region of Finland surrounded by the value and the date above. Engraver's initial (T) and the mint's logo (lion) on the right.

Historical Satakunta is situated on the areas of modern provinces of Satakunta and the most of Pirkanmaa, also little areas of Central Finland and Southern Ostrobothnia. The name of the region literally means Hundred. The coat of arms is a bear holding in both paws a sword crowned by a ducal coronet.
