The Ministry of Health (Italian: Ministero della Salute) is a governmental agency of Italy. Its headquarters are in Rome.

The Ministry developed the Italian Food Pyramid (Piramide Alimentare Italiana) to guide food and meal planning. The divisions show healthy intake of water, fruits and vegetables, starches (bread, biscotti, pasta, etc.), protein (meat, cold cut meats, eggs, fish, etc.), milk and dairy, and occasional uses (oils, sweets, and alcohol). The pyramid is intended to represent the variety of foods eaten over an entire week, averaged into daily portions.

Depicts an allegory of health with symbol elements of the Ministry’s activities (a girl surrounded by fish, wheat ear, caduceus and DNA): Environment, Research, Food and Medicine; on the left, the monogram “RI”, acronym of the Italian Republic; above, “R”, identifying the Mint of Rome; at the base of the feminine figure, initials of the designer Silvia Petrassi; around, the inscription “Ministry of Health”, the years “1958-2018” and the twelve stars of the European Union.

Designer: Silvia Petrassi

A geographical map of Western Europe spans the outer ring and inner core on the right side of the coin. The inscription 2 EURO is superimposed over the map of Europe, with the numeral “2” located in an open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

12 stars are located on the right side of the outer ring, with six stars atop the map of Europe and six stars below it; six vertical stripes cut across the inner core of the coin, visually connecting the upper and lower star segments.

Luc Luycx, a designer at the Royal Belgian Mint, designed the Euro’s common reverse; his initials, LL, are seen on the right side of the design, just under the “O” in “EURO.”

The sequence "2 ★" repeated six times alternately upright and inverted.
