Description

The Royal Mint continues it's wonderfully creative Portrait of Britain series of exploring Britain's unique heritage with a nostalgic celebration of the country's seaside. This silver Proof set celebrates the individual character and charm of 4 much loved seaside towns: Brighton, Blackpool, Tenby and Southwold.

These contemporary designs enjoy a special trichromatic colour printing technique on sterling silver and finished to a pristine Proof quality. This innnovative printing process, which showcases the skill of The Royal Mint's craftsmanship, creates a delicate watercolour-like effect that has to be seen first-hand to be truly admired.

The George IV State Diadem, officially the Diamond Diadem, is a type of crown that was made in 1820 for King George IV. The diadem is worn by queens and queens consort in procession to coronations and State Openings of Parliament. The piece of jewelry has been featured in paintings and on stamps and currency. It can be seen in the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace.

ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FIDEI DEFENSATRIX means Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen and Defender of the Faith.

Depicts Brighton Palace Pier.

Brighton is a seaside resort on the south coast of England which is part of the city of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. Brighton's location has made it a popular destination for tourists, renowned for its diverse communities, quirky shopping areas, large cultural, music and arts scene.

The Brighton Palace Pier, commonly known as Brighton Pier is a pleasure pier in Brighton, England, located in the city centre. Opening in 1899, it was the third pier to be constructed in Brighton after the Royal Suspension Chain Pier and the West Pier, but is now the only one still in operation.

The pier remains popular with the public, with over four million visitors in 2016, and has been featured in many works of British culture, including the gangster thriller Brighton Rock, the comedy Carry On at Your Convenience and the Who's concept album and film Quadrophenia.
