Description

The America the Beautiful Quarters are a series of 25-cent pieces (quarters) issued by the United States Mint from 2010 until at least 2021.

Acadia National Park became the first national park east of the Mississippi River. It is also the first national park created from land that was donated for that purpose. The park is home to the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic Coast. Visitors to Acadia can enjoy hiking over granite peaks, biking on historic carriage roads, and viewing the spectacular scenery.

Quarters are issued depicting designs of national parks and sites in the order of which that park or site was deemed a national site. Release date (national site date): June 11, 2012 (July 8, 1916).

Depicts a view of the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and Acadia's rough coastline. The coastline, the lighthouse, the pine trees, and the ocean in the design represent some of the major features of Acadia National Park.

The cliffside Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in Acadia National Park, located in the village of Bass Harbor within Tremont, Maine in the United States, marks the entrance to Bass Harbor on the southwestern side of Mount Desert Island. The lighthouse was built of brick in 1858 on a stone foundation, stands 17 m (56 feet) above mean high water.
