Description

The Ministry of Trade and Industry is a cabinet-level department in the government of Egypt. Its headquarters are located in Cairo. It was established on December 20, 1934 during the reign of King Ahmed Fouad I in accordance with the royal decree No. 11, and it was called the Department of Commerce and Industry of the Ministry of Finance and then turned into an independent ministry in July 1956 during the era of President Gamal Abdel Nasser, in order to interest in electricity production and the expansion of oil extraction and the establishment of iron and steel factories to serve the new national projects and major companies for the advancement of Egypt.
